THE PLASTIC WORLD

CONSIDERING PLASTIC SURGERY?

A lot of women are undergoing plastic surgeries every day ranging from celebrities like Mariah Carey who had her boobs done, to others like Lil Kim and many more to non celebs. Going under the knife has become a norm in today’s world where so much attention is paid to good looks and appearance. How real are these pictures of Nikki Minaj who a lot of people believe have had butt implants?
These women have a lot of different motives for thinking and undergoing surgeries. One in five women in Seoul has undergone some kind of beauty procedure.  In South Korea alone plastic surgery procedure is the order of the day. Recently a once stunning South Korean TV presenter ruined her face with plastic surgery. Her case is also similar to one of the South Korean ladies who went for plastic surgery to artificially perfect her appearance for 120times!! Check out a before and after picture of this lady.

Some have gone wrong while some came out looking too attractive. Although a lot of people are taking to surgery in today’s world, there are still some people who find any form of plastic surgery aimed at more beautification disgusting. Former formula one champion Niki Lauda is one of such people. He actually thinks women who undergo beauty surgeries ‘can’t stand themselves’ and at the same time finds the procedures boring and expensive. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/women/womens-life/10258195/Women-who-have-plastic-surgery-cant-stand-themselves-says-Niki-Lauda.html

Lauren Goodger of Towie recently had a £6k boob job done and according to her it has brought her more attention which she previously didn’t have. Statistics show that the majority of women seeking beauty procedures are just pressurised by society to look perfect. Check out some pictures of celebrities who ended up with bad end result on their beauty surgeries. http://allwomenstalk.com/20-celebrities-with-bad-plastic-surgery

The plastic surgery phenomenon does not seem to be a short phase, but a trend I believe will soon be considered normal especially with magazines flaunting women and portraying no sense of reality at all. With the continuous portrayal of perfect abs, perfect hair, perfect everything else by the media which has become the standard, there is enormous pressure on women especially to perfect their ‘imperfections’ through cosmetic surgery.

The truth is behind the so called glamour of ‘nip and tuck’ lies a huge but silent rush of disappointment which often times leads their victims to contemplate suicides.
New research by experts in the journal, Current Psychiatry reports show that women who undergo cosmetic surgery have more tendencies to commit suicide. This conclusion came from their studies on five large-scale independent studies which surprisingly found out that suicide rate is three times higher in women who have had breast implants.  In general people who undergo cosmetic surgeries had up to three times higher rate of death because of self-destructive acts which includes binge drinking, overdose on drugs and reckless driving. According to the international Epidemiology Institute in the U.S, the Psychological damages related to plastic surgery are an area that is ‘critically neglected’. Another study found that about 8 out of ten cosmetic surgery practices notice that their former patients had developed post-traumatic stress. In other words these surgeons not only saw physical complications, but patients with psychological side effects. Different emotions such as ‘disappointment, anxiety and depression were the mostly associated psychological problems’ displayed after series of cosmetic procedures.  This is according to report published in the journal, Plastic and Re-constructive surgery. Just like women, men are also thought more likely to be disoriented at the outcome of their cosmetic surgery, no matter how ‘technically good’ the result is.

So my question is with the non-stop craze for good looks and attention, and many real life pictures of cosmetics procedures gone wrong and the lasting effects of these surgeries, will you consider plastic surgery at some point in your life???

  1. So nicki minaj has been deceiving us. Kai. To think that she's naturally endowed? Insatiable wants and desires.

  2. I am wonderfully and beautifully made! I certainly would never consider plastic surgery! People that undergo plastic surgery are having nothing but low self esteem. Their lives function only on peoples opinion. Be content with what u have not only in the case of undergoing plastic surgery. People have cut their lives and destiny short as a result of "long throat"

  3. @anonymous 22:16, well said. I really don't see any need for plastic surgery. Its devilish in my opinion and people should learn to appreciate themselves and not depend on peoples/societal approval. Neme...

  4. The issue of plastic surgery i think is a personal choice which shouldn't arouse so much upheaval as it does currently. A lot of esteem issues are related to appearance, therefore if one needs to fine-tune appearance and boost positive self esteem, then i naturally see it as a part of self development. Bottom line is the motive behind the action.

  7. I remember reading an article in a newspaper at the a local library some months ago about Jackie Stallone, Sylvester Stallone's mum. I couldn't control myself as I burst into laughter. She looked ridiculous! No words could describe her looks. At 90+, one would have thought she'd had enough of plastic surgery but just a couple of weeks ago I read that she's about to have another one! What?! In my opinion, plastic surgery in most cases especially the so-called celebrities is more than an obsession, it's an addiction, like a drug. Once you start, it's hard to stop, especially when 'messing up' with the face. I understand when it's done for health reasons, other than that, it's a way of expressing low self esteem.

  9. I remember reading this story about a year ago. It was extremely funny! I decided to re-post for us to read:

A man sues his ex-wife for giving birth to what he called "an extremely ugly baby girl"... And wins!

In China, the man filed suit on the grounds of false pretenses. He claimed his ex duped him for failing to mention she had $100,000 worth of cosmetic work done. The cosmetic work made her beautiful.

He initially believed his wife cheated on him since the child looked nothing like them, but DNA tests proved it was theirs.

A judge agreed with his argument. The ex-wife now has to pay $120,000.

    Cheers!!!
