UNDER THE WEATHER?

Helen is always smiling.  Wherever and whenever I see her, she's full of smiles. personally, I believe you can only smile when you have the reason to, but that's not the case with Helen. She has always said it is not impossible and unusual  to live a certain kind of life any one wishes, but that it is also possible for things not to go exactly as planned sometimes , making emphasis on her  innate attitude to life  which is the main sustaining energy she adopts to maintain the winning and a joyous mind-set. The same way there are different seasons and weather i.e. winter, autumn, spring and summer, so there are different seasons of life too. We all have our individual preferences  when it comes to the weather and seasons, unfortunately we cannot choose them in the order we need and want neither can we control them ,  however we can learn how to stay happy and joyful in them. Bingo!
Because we have certain level of God-given control over some life occurrences, it means we can adjust our attitudes to stay joyful in the midst of life events we do not have complete control over.  The same way we dress up for summer and winter to shield from the sun and   freezing cold, we dress up for life too with courage, faith, trust, hope, joy, patience, endurance, perseverance, & many other beautiful fruits of the  Spirit. We have various tactics which we adopt to stay excited and happy during freezing cold of winter. Some of us go on holidays, host or attend house parties, go to the gym and engage in many other mind and body stimulating activities. In summer we cover our skins with sunscreen, use our eye candies (shades) and hats before we go out in the sun.  Imagine the efforts we make to avoid the down in winter and skin burn in summer! We should also make adequate efforts in our daily living. When things are not turning out exactly the way we want, we must take responsibility for our actions and make the most of life, because indeed life itself is a gift! Switch on the virtues inside of you.
We do not sway our moods with life seasons, we 'dress up' and prepare for them, now that's courage! In events of delays in our expectations, you adopt the lifestyle and attitude of patience. You don't pack up and allow those delays to prevent you from continuing to enjoy life; rather you keep yourself positively busy while waiting for those beautiful expectations.
As far as life is concerned, there will be different times when  want to say 'life is not fair', you need to brace yourself with virtues and keep going in the right direction because your happiness is not dependent on your circumstances, rather you have chosen to enjoy a life of happiness.  Certain individuals have resolved to stay negative, depressed demotivated and enjoy being pitied/felt sorry for and I bet you they   will try to drag you down to their level if you let them. Will you?  While you strive to stay positive and shine in the midst of life challenges, they find it absurd and look at you with disgust.
As I pen down these words while sitting on the train heading to work, I challenge myself to practice these inspirations and I challenge you too! are you considering giving up that dream due to tides and weather of life? Think again. look inward and re-discover your strength and face life better 'dressed up' than you have ever done.  There are million choices to make every day, and you are the primary determinant of the ones you make.
wrapping up this post, I will say what ever the season brings, we have all it takes to fortify our minds and enjoy life as it was intended from the onset.
Also, a very special thanks to my dear friends Deborah Ajayi and Luton Poet Laureate (www.lutonpoetrysociety.com) for your beautiful contributions to this post. Greatly appreciated.

  3. Laura I really do appreciate the efforts u make to bring up excellent and "out of the world" master pieces! You know its easier (cheaper) to talk, but mehn writing is a very serious business! It takes more and alot to write and I want to say to u WELL DONE! You've said it all in this piece, and it will take only the fittests (not physical strength) to survive! Am a very strong willed, faith-filled person and that had helped me to scale thru and to still remain standing! But I noticed that lately i get demoralised (may be preg hormone), but reading this faith-filled article, am lifted! After all, a doctor cannot cure himself! Thank u Laura! You wouldn't know the great impact u're making! You really are here!

  4. As my passion and drive permits me to interface with people from different walks of life and levels of understanding, i do not hesitate to as much as i can reiterate the fact that proactive people carry their weather with them every day. This simply means putting up an attitude or a mechanism that has a higher control than the circumstances that surface as we experience life daily. Don't allow your life to be controlled by the inconsistency of the weather. Be proactive and wear your preferred weather, the weather born of the right attitude, positive drive and unquenchable joy. Live irresistibly!

  5. Positive thinking shouldn't be about expecting the best to happen everytime, but it's accepting that no matter what happens in life you should have faith that it's the best thing at that moment. Even the negative can be turned into a positive if you continue to have faith & trust. A saying once told to me by my former school master was "Aim for the moon, even if you don't reach it, at least you tried and the worst that can happen? You will land in the stars"
Laura, my star * continue with your beautiful words of wisdom. xxx Kira xxx

  6. Helen's attitude is an example of how we should cope with whatever life throws at us. We should always be prepared to 'be in control' of every situation. It can be really hard sometimes/most times but even harder when we lose control. Therefore it's best to be in control because a lot of people let whatever they're going through dictate how they interact with people around them in such a manner that they tend to take it out on everyone around them, if it's something negative, and when it's positive they seem friendly all of a sudden! Being able to overcome the temptation to be as such, acting like someone diagnosed with bipolar indicates maturity in us. We should all try never to have our moods controlled by what we are going through, either positive or negative so that we don't seem like an on-off switch that can just be turned on and off by the ever-changing life events....Lovely post.

  9. 'it's very human to feel down (low spirit)' they say! but the world has gone spiritual. spiritual forces fight against the human forces every day! what do we do in this situation? we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities and powers and rulers in high places! so gird ur loins and stop working in the flesh! you either choose to conquer or choose to fail! circumstances of life will always come, but when you roar back at it, everything will become still! be in charge at all times!!! £The First Lady£

  11. Well done Laura! Great job, I'm highly impressed! See what happens when we put heads together? Thank God for inspiration. Closing with St. Paul's letter (Philippians 4:4) "Rejoice in the Lord always. Again I say, rejoice!". Coming from a man who went from prison to prison on account of the Gospel....what are we waiting for? REJOICE!

(P.S. - I'll possibly tell Helen that her smile has gone global!)
