WHICH WAY WORLD?

From the recent Ukraine crisis to the bombing devastating the north-eastern Nigeria to the disappearing of the Malaysian Airline Boeing 777-200 carrying 239 perform Kuala Lumpur to Beijing and many more heart breaking news, most times I find myself pausing and pondering  with too many questions on my mind. As at the time I was listening to CNN news on the Malaysia airline flight disappearance, it was not confirmed by the international aviation authorities on the location of the jetliner. What could have resulted to the loss of communication two hours into the flight in Vietnam’s air space on Friday 18:20 GMT? I can only imagine how the 227 passengers including two infants and 12 crew members felt, unsure of their whereabouts, flying at an altitude of 35000 feet with no previous problem about the flight they boarded! Could this be human error or a deliberate act of wickedness just to hurt these people and their families? Which brings me to the on and off bombings in the north-eastern Nigeria with at least 1300 and 130 people killed in the past two months and five days alone respectively! And it doesn’t appear to be an end in sight of these violent acts and aggravations. The response to these violent acts from the government has not been effective at best. The recent open fire attack at a high school in Nigeria on February 20 which led to the death of at least 98 people including students who were asleep in their dormitories at the time of the unfortunate incident which is considered the latest school massacre by security forces is still a bewilderment! It is not surprising that Boko Haram which is loosely translated to "western education is forbidden" has been perpetrating these wicked acts. In September 2013, about 40 students in agricultural training school in Yobe were massacred after these hoodlums stormed several dorms at night. Despite the imposing of the emergency measures which includes enhanced military presence, more than 1000 lives have been cut short in the north-eastern Nigeria. It is either Nigeria military is not properly equipped to face these bloodthirsty psychopaths or they do have all it takes but do not possess adequate and relevant skills to counter their efforts. What is the islamic law saying about this, in a Country where we are claiming democratic government? or has it become a norm to kill and forget in Nigeria?
With the law criminalising same-sex relationships in Nigeria which president Goodluck Jonathan  signed into law this particular bill, Nigeria may also be on the verge of losing many young minds, the impact of these loses of Nigeria minds that are potential great contributors to our society in the near future, may be extremely adverse following where the Nigeria society is today. The supports from the archbishops of Canterbury and York to the gay community, who in their letters made it clear that God loves and values the homosexual, and preached against the victimisation of people in this category is empowering for  the likes of Michael Ighodaro which I think is very remarkable and relieving . Michael recently joined a NYC Community of Nigeria Gay refugees after what he thought was a homophobic attack against him in Abuja. My point here is, is the law genuinely for the good of Nigeria as a whole or not, considering the effects these laws may have on Nigerian citizens who have found themselves gay and their immediate families? Often times, I find it unrealistic in the practical use of the word LOVE. It is not in my power to define it in the way every other person perceives it, but if you may allow me, I think Love is GOD and is a natural expression that can be expressed without reason. So if love is perceived close to what I believe (assumption), I keep wondering why there are non-stop hurts at different levels, from killings to abuse and diverse forms of negative actions brought about by selfishness Or has the world reached a certain level where control is impossible?

  1. Well, I believe God loves us all - straight, gay, trans. He loves everyone. I believe there's no sin bigger than another, though it appears the Scripture classified sexual sins differently as "unto the body". But really sin is sin and a lie is as bad as stealing or fornication involving straight people or false representation in any way or homosexualism. From a Christian viewpoint, I believe we must understand that the Biblical instrution is to love. Love everyone - those that hurt you, killed your relative, stole your belongings, sent you out on the streets, broke your heart - just love everyone irrespective of social inclination or sexual orientation. What we must hate is the sin! And we must say it clearly, firmly but lovingly!
There's too much hurt already on earth. The threat of global annihilation hangs on us every minute. The US and Russia alone haves enough nuclear armament to wipe the world out over and over again. Yet there are at least, 6 other countries heavily armed to blow civilization away - and some rogue nations and individuals also seeking these deadly weapons.
What should be the appropriate response? I believe a hurting world needs her Creator. When we lovingly introduce Him to those who hurt and they accept the Gift He offers, we would be helping to bring solace to a world in horrible pain!

  2. Truly well Elaborated Sis!. Indeed; Which Way World?. For Our Dear country, Corruption,Lack of Work to Our young Graduates,Fuel scarcity in a land of Oil/Fuel!+ Boko Haram = insecurity and Recession. Only God will deliver us from it all!. Talking of same Sex Marriage" Hmmm,,

The scriptures made it abundantly clear that a Christian nation that abandons its faith and acts contrary to the Gospel (and in naked breach of a coronation oath) will be beset by natural disasters such as storms, disease, pestilence and war,". Examples we are Aware of are >> 1'. Britain's flooding is God's wrath for same-sex marriage;..

Prime Minister David Cameron is to blame for the floods that hit Britain over Christmas, David Silvester, a Ukip councillor for Henley-on-Thames and an Independence Party member, said in an open letter published by an Oxfordshire newspaper, the Helen Standard.
2,Rabbi Says Hurricane Sandy Was God’s Wrath Against Gay Marriage. etc. There are lots of visions on these sayings for those that truly have Ears!.

Same Sex Marriage Will Bring God’s Judgement.

‘If a man lies with a man, as with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination: they shall surely be put to death; their blood will be upon their own head’ (Leviticus 20:13).

So, did I hear someone saying that all sins are alike and Equal??. I can go on and On!.

For What shall it profit a man to gain all the whole tautology with Sentiment Suitable! just to divert the Real Message of God Almighty' just as it is written??? Yes, it's obvious that Righteous road isn't Easy for Us all I tell you; though HIS Grace is sufficient for us if we keep trying. In it all, there ain't Any Reason to be Blasphemous still!!.

These are very strong words the Lord God has written for all of mankind. God has literally given some people up to their own evil practices. All who practice homosexuality, according to God, are only worthy of eternal death, unless they repent, give up their evil ways and turn to God. Every person on earth has knowledge of God because He has put that knowledge in everyone, so the people who practice sin are without excuse. Anyone who says there is no God is a fool and is corrupt (Psalm 14:1; 53:1). All sexual sin is evil in God’s eyes, but ''homosexuality'' is the worst!!. ‘Flee from all sexual immorality. Any other sin that a person commits is one outside the body, but they who commits sexual immorality sins against their own body.

Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit which is in you, which you have from God? You are not your own, you were bought with a price, therefore glorify God in your body and in your Spirit, which are God's’ (1 Corinthians 6:18 to 20). Sexual immorality is the one and only sin, where the sin is against one’s own body, which should be treated as the temple of the Holy Spirit and should not be defiled. All other sins are outside the body. That is scripture! That is what God says and we are not ashamed of the Gospel of salvation, nor are we ashamed to teach it according to the Word of God. If anyone has any doubt that God hates homosexuality and all other sexual sin, and will reject those who practice such behaviour they only need to read the Bible. One Love and May HE Help us all!. Xxx

  3. Laura I'm disappointed on your anti-gay comment, how would you feel if you when you are born with a wrong body? Your feelings are that of a woman while your body is a man's? I believe everything one can express their feelings whatsoever without being afraid of the society.

    1. Laura made no anti-gay comment in this article. She even sounds more pro-gay to me. Maybe you should re-read and try to understand it.

  4. Hi I have a lot of gay friends, they are beautiful in every way, I think there's a bit of a misconception, I apologise if my comment didn't come across right, but the whole point of my discussion is the need and awareness for our society to love and accept people the way they are, the rhetorical questions are mainly to know the thoughts of people on several issues our world is currently facing. Although we all have the freedom to express our thoughts and concerns, It's better to let God be the judge. X

  5. I don't even know where this world is going to! No matter how the world wants to sugar coat homosexuality, that was the main reason why GOD destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah! Period!
Talking about the killings, disaster, hmm! they are all signs of the end time.
Laura, your apologies are accepted, but seriously, 'no offense taken! Great article! well done!

  6. We all seem to lean towards political correctness. That's the world we live in today. I am a Christian and as much as I don't believe in imposing things on people, the Bible which I believe teaches that same sex union is an abomination and a whole city was destroyed for this reason. I will not publicly criticise a gay person, and I believe in loving people no matter where they are from or what they believe in. As well, I will not compromise my belief for political correctness. I will eat in the same bowl with a gay person, live in the same house with them cos they are humans after all. It doesn't mean I accept what they do and I still find it hard to believe the concept of being born in a different body. My point is, Nigeria is a sovereign country and has the rights to her own laws and legislation. So if the government decides to enact a law against same sex marriage due to religious grounds, I don't feel there should be a foul cry against the country. It is a sensitive issue globally and one that a lot of leaders shy away from, even religious heads. The fact is though that the Bible teaches against it but never suggest they should be punished. In my opinion, leave people to whatever they do or practise. God judges, more than any human. You don't have to be gay to be under His judgement.

  8. Considering the last phrase (a rhetorical question) of this article, 'or has the world reached a certain level where control is impossible', I'll like to say the problem with this world is actually the opposite, i.e the problem is CONTROL. The control by some people that have got the means to, in order to achieve what they desire. The best way to gain control is to have chaos and unrest all over.
When was the last time positive things were mentioned in the news (except sports)? Probably never! From issues concerning 'Boko Haram' (which is just a group of cowards put together to cause chaos) to other international issues, the basis of it all is to gain control.
Concerning gay issues, gay people have been in existence ever since humans have been walking the surface of this earth. The question therefore is why is there now a big issue concerning gays? Why are countries being FORCED to legalize gay marriages? To the best of my knowledge, Nigeria and other countries alike, aren't saying gay people shouldn't exist, they are not just up for gay marriages and I think every country also have the right to her legislation. Why should a country be forced by another (because it's more powerful?) to make certain laws if it's not about the issue of CONTROL.
We should ask ourselves, Is there an agenda?
